What is a CAL for Windows Server?

A CAL (Client Access License) is a license that grants a user or device the ability to access server services. If a workstation in your organization is part of the network, it likely relies on network server software to perform specific functions, such as file and print sharing.

How do you activate a Windows Server CAL License?

Right-click the server you want to activate in the console tree, then click “Activate Server.” The Server Activation Wizard will start. Select “Web Browser” from the list of connection methods on the Connection Method page, then click “Next.”
